People Like You

Despite improved awareness of mental health, our society is still uncomfortable talking about severe, long term or complex mental health conditions. In a country where 1 in 5 people are living with a mental health condition, the need for open, honest conversations has never been more critical.

Hosted by SANE Ambassador Cam Solnordal, "People Like You" (a collaboration between SANE StigmaWatch and Mindframe, an Everymind Program) delves into the real-life experiences of everyday people navigating mental health challenges.

Premiering April 10, 2024, "People Like You" invites listeners on a journey of empathy, understanding, and empowerment. Each episode features candid conversations with individuals, their families, and carers, exploring a wide range of mental health experiences.

Whether you're directly affected, supporting a loved one, or simply curious, this series offers unfiltered insights. Through intimate interviews, you'll hear stories of resilience, coping mechanisms, and journeys towards recovery. Most importantly, "People Like You" dismantles stereotypes by showing the shared humanity of those impacted. This is a call to action, encouraging us all to build a society with greater understanding and acceptance, because, at the end of the day, we’re people, like you!

This podcast was recorded on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin nation, and we wish to pay respects to elders past and present and extend our respects to any Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander listeners.

On the Same Wavelength

Coming July 20, On the Same Wavelength is a new podcast focusing on how we can improve outcomes for people living with complex mental health conditions in Australia, and smash the stigma. Each episode, hear from real people who share their raw experiences – what goes right, and what goes wrong helping us get on the same wavelength. Their stories are honest, confronting, but hopeful.

On the Same Wavelength is a collaboration between the University of Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences, and SANE, Australia’s leading national mental health organisation for people with complex mental health needs, with the support of the Paul Ramsay Foundation. It is hosted by Elise Carrotte, and edited by Chris Hatzis.

This podcast was recorded on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin nation, and we wish to pay respects to elders past and present, and extend our respects to any Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander listeners.
